Workshops and Incursions for all ages!

I just wanted to thank you for the fabulous workshops!!!
I have had dance incursions before but yours was brilliant because as well as having amazing creative talents as performers you are effective teachers of your craft.

SUARA INDONESIA DANCE AT YOUR SCHOOL

Have Suara Indonesia Dance come to your school and help enrich your students' educational experience. Your students will not only be thoroughly entertained by the performances but will learn about the diversity of cultures found within the Indonesian archipelago as well as the historical and narrative spirit of the dances. Indonesian language is also incorporated in the learning process of the workshops toCMS added image create a holistic learning experience.

THE PERFORMANCE-WORKSHOP
The performers take participants on a spectacular and highly-engaging cultural journey.
Indonesia's diverse archipelago is explored; including dances from Sumatra, Bali and East & West Java.
These can include; Tari Melayu from Riau, Tari Bajidor Kahot from West Java, Tari Betawi from Jakarta,
Tari Kreasi Baru (new choreography dances) from Java and Tari Topeng (mask dance).
Teachers are encouraged to learn these dances with the students and incorporate them in class.

The sessions consist of 25mins performance of the various dances from around Indonesia, followed by 35mins interactive workshop, where all the students are involved, not only do they learn movements from the dances, but have the opportunity to shine through their own performance.
The interactive part consists of;

Ratoh Duek sitting body percussion dances from Aceh. These dances encompass intricate pattern making with your hands accompanied by traditional devotional songs. Rhythms are made through clapping, hitting the upper body, legs and voice. The movements are communal, fun and rhythmically satisfying. These dances have become popular in Jakarta and overseas. Individuals feel like they belong within a group and through shared action the group feels like a community, creating self-esteem and confidence. Teachers are encouraged to learn these dances with the students and incorporate them in class.
